A robotic arm is a programmable mechanical arm designed to perform functions similar to those of a human arm. It can operate as a standalone mechanism or as part of a more complex robotic system.
The arm consists of interconnected links joined by joints that enable either rotational motion (as in articulated robots) or linear displacement. These links form a kinematic chain, with the end of the chain - known as the end effector - serving as the functional equivalent of a human hand.
